Discover Punta Cana

Punta Cana is a true gem of the Dominican Republic and a must-visit for those who want to escape the daily routine of life and experience a taste of paradise. A 32km stretch of white sandy beaches and crystal clear seas, marinas offering snorkeling adventures with sharks and stingrays, and near perfect weather conditions to complement the blue sky above all-year-round, it is not to be missed.

It’s a little surprising that Punta Cana isn’t already on every traveler’s radar, but it’s fast becoming a world-renowned hotspot for its natural beauty. This is a place that offers a level of relaxation like nowhere else in the world, and there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and a few discos to expel some energy after dark.

Things to Do

During the day, you’ll no doubt want to spend some time exploring Punta Cana’s famous sandy beach and enjoy a splash in the blue ocean sparkling in the sun. Temperatures remain between 25-and 27 °C, and weather conditions remain dry for most of the month regardless of the season. However, while you’d be missing out if you don’t spend a significant amount of time relaxing by the shore, there are many other activities you could explore.

If you have a daredevil streak, you should head over to Marinarium to swim and snorkel with sharks and stingrays. You’ll be taken on a guided cruise tour to an enclosed marine where you’ll get to swim with these beautiful creatures, which promises to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. The tour company uses a portion of its profits for educational purposes and to support environmental conservation.

Those who enjoy a shopping experience can head to Duty-Free Americas, where you’ll find fantastic deals on the likes of jewelry, tobacco liquor, well-known fragrance brands, watches and travel-related merchandise. If you’re looking for local souvenirs or arts and crafts products, you’ll find everything you need at Brisas del Caribe.

After witnessing the sun set over the beautiful beach, you can find nightlife entertainment at the Coco Bongo Disco, which is no ordinary nightclub. Every night, the stars of the disco put on a fantastic show full of light, color, video and, of course, dancing. You’ll hear a wide variety of music, from local favorites to songs you’ll certainly recognize, and you can enjoy a cocktail or two.

Where to Stay

As an increasingly popular tourist destination, Punta Cana has many hotels for you to choose from, whether you’re looking for budget accommodation or a 5-star option with all the frills you need to feel pampered during your stay. Most hotels are conveniently located near all the main attractions, and you’ll find them all excellent value no matter what facilities you expect from your accommodation.

However, you’ll no doubt love Punta Cana so much that you’ll feel like coming back as often as possible, in which case you might consider booking superb vacation rentals or even purchase a property on the Lake Village Cocotal. This community of luxury apartments lies next to the renowned El Cocotal Golf & Country Club Community & Golf Course and features on-site facilities like swimming pools and sweeping lake views. Again, prices for these luxury villas are excellent value, and you’ll be happy to have a home away from home that you can visit as frequently as you like.

Getting In

You can reach Punta Cana by flying to Punta Cana Airport, which is privately owned and operated by Corporación Aeroportuaria del Este, S.A. You can click here for more information about the airport, including airport terminal information and specifics about the runways. Once you reach the airport, you’ll need to pay for a tourist card at immigration, which costs $10 for a 30-day stay. You also need to pay a $20 departure tax when you leave, though this is usually covered in your airfare. It’s a good idea to verify beforehand.

Punta Cana is a tropical paradise in the heart of the Caribbean, and nobody leaves unimpressed by what they see. We look forward to seeing you soon.
